WAUSAU, WI – The Miss Wausau Area Scholarship Organization, an official preliminary to the Miss Wisconsin Competition, is now seeking candidates for its upcoming competition on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the UW Center for Civic Engagement. Participants have the opportunity to earn scholarships, build confidence, and strengthen their interview skills in a supportive and empowering environment. No prior pageant experience is required. Over $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the competition.

“I was completely new to the pageant scene when I competed for Miss Wausau Area. Despite my nerves, the incredible women around me made the day truly special,” said Avery Manthe, Miss Wausau Area 2025. “Not only did I earn scholarships, but I also gained lifelong friendships.”

Contestants will be judged in private interview, on-stage conversation, health and fitness, talent, and evening gown.

Candidates for Miss Wausau Area must be between ages 18-28, while Teen candidates must be between ages 14-18.  All contestants must reside, work, or attend school within Marathon, Portage, Lincoln, Taylor, or Clark Counties or the town of Marshfield in Wisconsin. The winner in each age division will receive a $2,000 scholarship, prize package, and go on to compete for Miss Wisconsin & Miss Wisconsin’s Teen in June of 2027.

The “Little Sister’s” Program is also accepting applications at this time. This is a fun mentoring opportunity for young girls ages 5-13 to build confidence and learn speaking skills. The Little Sisters will perform a group dance on stage during the onstage competition, and will learn the importance of kindness and giving back to their community throughout the program.

Miss Wausau Area 2026 is Janae Bond, and Chloe Munguia is the reigning Miss Wausau Area’s Teen. Both will go on to compete at Miss Wisconsin & Miss Wisconsin’s Teen in June 2026.

“This program opens doors for young women across central Wisconsin by supporting their educational goals while helping them grow as confident leaders and community advocates,” said Executive Director Jenny Stanke. “We are excited to welcome a new group of candidates ready to challenge themselves and make a positive impact.”
